The condition of our feet reflects our physical and mental state. Energetically the feet are a mirror of the body. So every organ and bodily system within the body is reflected in the feet. Foot Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy is a proven, safe and effective way of enabling the body to heal itself.
The body contains longitudinal lines of energy ascending from the feet to the brain. A Reflexologist applies pressure to specific locations on the feet, mainly by a technique called 'thumb walking'; stimulating these energy lines and clearing the blockages. This has a rejuvenating and healing effect on the whole body. As I work I 'map', the feet to help me identify and treat any medical problems with tremendous results.
If you have an area of pain or inflammation within your body, I will be able to 'feel' them in the corresponding point on the foot. By applying pressure via the thumb walk I break down the toxins that build up in the energy points - in a similar way to how an Acupuncturist uses needles to release blockages. This enables the energy to flow properly and reduces the inflammation, which in turn alleviates the pain and inflammation within the body.
A positive advantage of Reflexology is you only have your feet touched! So it's ideal for people who are not comfortable with the idea of a full body massage. Reflexology differs from conventional relaxation massage in that it actually treats the internal systems of the body directly - such as the kidneys, heart, digestive, circulatory and respiratory systems - by the use of 'therapeutic touch', which is a deeper massage.
Reflexology is also a superb preventative therapy. My direct experience of monthly 'maintenance' sessions is that it not only slows down the deterioration in chronic health conditions; but has actually prevented early-onset conditions from developing because I have identified medical problems before the client has had any symptoms.
